Letter from the Conference Chair:
AAACE 2020 Annual Conference in Reno, NV, October 27-30
Dear Colleagues,
This is a bittersweet moment for me as I write this letter to inform you that the Executive Board of the American
Association of Adult and Continuing Education (AAACE) determined it would be in the best interest of our members and attendees to cancel the in-person conference in Reno and in its place hold the 2020 AAACE Conference virtually. The conference planning committee
has worked tirelessly to plan and prepare for an outstanding in-person event and so we are disappointed that the decision to go virtual had to be made. However, we also believe that this was the right decision and we are excited about the opportunity to host
an online event that promises to be informative, engaging, and thought-provoking.
This virtual conference gives us the opportunity to grow and develop digital skills and literacies which are key in these unprecedented times. We are eager to use this online platform to, among other things, share practical and theoretical knowledge using virtual
tools, facilitate networking opportunities, host our annual business meeting, and celebrate special milestones and achievements.
We continue to work on planning the conference for October and look forward to releasing proposal notifications to presenters as scheduled, on Friday, June 26, 2020. As more details come available, we will communicate those on our website.
We are counting on your support and we look forward to having you join us online for the AAACE 2020 conference.
Sincerely,
Petra A. Robinson, PhD
Chair, AAACE 2020 Conference
