Hi everyone

I hope you are all doing well! Lloyd Nackley and I have talked about this year’s meeting. Because of both Oregon state policies and the uncertainty around planning travel, we have decided to have a virtual meeting this year, via Zoom. We are hoping that in 2021 we will have our feet on Oregon soil – thank you, Lloyd.

This year, Lloyd and I are honored to be the incoming secretary and chair, respectively. Status of our new five-year (10/01/2020 to 09/30/2025) proposal is accepted with some minor revisions that I will finish up on Tuesday next week – look for another email requesting your immediate input on the title and provide some quick edits on your participation and research methods. That is time-sensitive.

For a virtual meeting, we would like input from you, as this is new territory for us all. So if you have some fiendishly clever ideas to make this a successful (i.e. meaningfully collaborative) meeting, please share those with the team.

Our suggested agenda is to start on Tuesday August 25 at 7.00 am Pacific Time PT (10 am ET). Here is a suggested rough agenda – please provide feedback and share your great ideas, including opportunities for new collaborative initiatives. My suggestion specifically for Clean Water(4) is to have those discussions during a different event. Times are in PT:

7.00 to 7.15: Sign in and agenda for the day.

7.15 to 9:15: Station reports (10 mins per station).

9.15 to 9.45: Break

9.45 to 11.45: Station reports (10 mins per station).

11.45 to 12.15: Break

12.15 to 12.30: Opportunities for new collaborative initiatives

12.30 to 1.30: Break out rooms

1.30 to 1.45 Report back

1.45 to 2.00: Business meeting and election of incoming secretary

Thanks and best regards, Paul

Hi All,

I’m looking forward to hosting our group this year.  Our meeting has been authorized, and likely you received that email today too (see below if not).

I am working with the Oregon Association of Nurseries who organize the FarWest nursery convention.  I will send a more detailed agenda when a some timing issues have been resolved.

For now, plan on having our business meeting on Monday August 24.  at meeting room in the Oregon Convetion Center. I’m thinking 12-5pm to allow morning travelers (if that option appeals to you please email me).

Tuesday, Aug. 25 we will tour Nurseries.

Wednesday, Aug. 26 the Far West show opens and is an opportunity to meet and mingle with growers.

Hope everyone is healthy and well,

Lloyd
