I was unable to find it as well.  They have taken it down.  Interesting!

I believe this video has been taken down. I cannot find it on the link from Don that others have used. Will someone else look and tell me if I'm crazy or somehow lacking the skill to find this video?

I do not think he was implying that, Susan. I think Jill did a very good job. I also think it's important to listen to what others are saying, as their concerns are valid. We have to provide safe spaces for all, but it doesn't require government oversight to do that.

It also seemed like, around 1:15 in the video, the Warriors group speaker tried to imply that the reason tornadoes hit Putnam county was because this group met there?!? Did anyone else feel he was trying to suggest that?

I agree that Jill spoke wonderfully and made several salient points before running out of time.  I thought the Memphis legislator did a great job getting several other relevant points on the record also.  The speaker from the Warriors group was quite scary in person. He was extremely aggressive in his speech and mannerisms.  It felt like the whole room was taken aback but maybe that was just me.

Jill did a terrific job  -  3 minutes is just not enough time to make the case fully while not being nervous,

Let’s go to the video tape:  http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/videowrapper/default.aspx?CommID=890020  (scroll down to the March 4th On Demand VIDEO, then starting at about 59:00).

Unfortunately, at that House Cities & Counties Subcommittee meeting, Putnam County Library was raked over the coals by Cookeville Pastor James Fortunato (starting at about 1:03:00 on video)  and Rich ??NAME?? from Warriors for Christ Ministry for their Drag Queen story time during which, they testified, a male exposed his genitals to children.

This was used by the sponsor of the proposed Parental Oversight of Libraries bill to show that library staff in Tennessee are not doing their job to protect children and this bill will solve the problem.

Thank you, Jill, for representing Tennessee libraries so ably  -  Don

Members and Supporters,

This will be a fast email as I leave Nashville to make the long trip home. TLA was represented in both chamber hearings today and we visited several lawmakers. I’m the morning’s Senate Hearing, the bill was rolled to next week. In the House hearing today, things got a bit heated as we and those in favor gave testimony. Ultimately, the bill was rolled for the last time to next week. More later...
