Dear Friends and Good People -

The Tennessee General Assembly is once again considering a proposal to make the Bible the official state book HB2778/SB2696 http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/default.aspx?BillNumber=HB2778&GA=111, even though the state’s lawyer calls it unconstitutional and former Governor Haslam said it trivializes the Bible’s religious significance when he vetoed the same bill in 2016 (see below).

A lot of Tennessee legislators have signed on, not only insulting all non-Christian, tax-paying residents of the state, but disrespecting one of the Bible’s basic tenents.

The House debated the question on Thursday, March 12 http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/videowrapper/default.aspx?CommID=801000 (scroll down to On Demand Video House Floor Session, Mar12, click on at about 1:30) Of particular interest are the comments by those Ds and Rs opposed to the bill.
