The USDA, U.S. Forest Service has posted a 6-month GIS and Cartography Resource Assistant position in Atlanta, Georgia. This position is located at the Southern Region, Regional Office, in the Resource Information Management unit. The job will require skill in the use of GIS software (ArcMap) for editing, display and analysis of spatial data. Responsibilities and tasks will include coordinating with forests to acquire and share GIS data, improving the customer experience with mobile maps, and producing content for official Forest Visitor Maps. A stipend is offered and upon successful completion of the program the individual will receive a 2-year direct hiring certificate with the Forest Service (with successful completion and 960 hours).
