[External Email] Members and Supporters, The House Subcommittee just wrapped up the hearing concerning the Parental Oversight Act. After lengthy discussion and a number of questions from the committee members to Rep. Holt (bill sponsor), he requested the bill be rolled to next week’s subcommittee agenda. The members asked very good questions, and it sounds like Rep. Holt aims to come back next week with an amendment of some type. Although TLA represented and prepared to speak, we were not called upon at this time. While we had hoped for a vote today, at least what we heard from the members sounded encouraging. Multiple members spoke up about their own involvement in their own libraries and their boards. TLA will continue to work at anticipating the possible amendments and appropriate responses.
