Geographers and Sustainers - Please see the note below from ORISE about an upcoming virtual career fair. It sounds like there are a variety of opportunities for interested graduate and undergraduate students.

Good Luck!

Hi Michael,

I manage the ORISEaspire social media accounts, and I saw you had tweeted a question<https://twitter.com/mcamponovo/status/1229794397002166272> related to the upcoming ORNL Science Education & Workforce Development Virtual Career Fair. I wasn't able to send you a DM (we may have to be following each other for that to work), so I thought I'd reach out to you via email.

Regarding your question, ORISE does have opportunities at ORNL for students/recent grads interested in remote sensing/GIS.

One specific opportunity is available to graduate students through the C-STARS program: https://www.zintellect.com/Opportunity/Details/ORNL_C-STARS_GIS.

ORISE also administers internship programs that are very broad in scope, with opportunities in pretty much any research area at ORNL (including remote sensing/GIS). These include:

  * ASTRO (open to graduate students; applications accepted year-round): https://orise.orau.gov/ornl/astro

  * HERE (open to college students, recent grads and faculty; applications accepted year-round): https://orise.orau.gov/ornl/hereatornl

  * SULI (open to college students and recent bachelor's grads; applications accepted on semester basis): https://orise.orau.gov/ornl/undergraduates/suli

A side-note: We recently profiled a SULI intern at ORNL whose research focused on remote sensing technology: https://orise.orau.gov/ornl/experiences/undergraduates/moss.html

ORISE representatives from each of these programs will be on hand for Thursday's event to answer questions and provide more information.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks,
Will
