Come spend this summer in Alaska!

The Alaska Region of the US Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) is seeking two motivated and independent people to help us keep Alaska's waterways free of aquatic invasive species. For the past three years, the Service has been collaborating with other federal and state agencies in pilot efforts to understand the risk of invasive mussels and snails being introduced to Alaska via trailered watercraft. Based on our initial results, we will be expanding our watercraft inspection and decontamination project to operate for the full summer in 2020. During the project, the field crew will be stationed on the Tetlin NWR at a remote field camp with access to amazing fishing, boating, and wildlife viewing opportunities.

There are several ways to apply based on your past experience and education. Below is information about the job announcements that are currently open in USAjobs. Interested candidates should select Tok as their duty station for the GS05 positions and Anchorage/Fairbanks for the GS06 positions (unfortunately Tok was not made an option this year for that)  Please note the very short application periods.

Fisheries Technician Announcements:

Invasive Species Technician Announcement:

  • GS - 05 -  Vacancy announcement open from January 7 through January 13, 2020. MR-20-10688780-DS-DE

Please help spread the word of the opportunities and encourage people with interest to contact me (Aaron Martin, 907-786-3510). Thanks in advance for your support in keeping Alaska wild and free of invasive species.

Aaron
