Subject: MS funding for geomorphology and other fields at Missouri State University

We are looking for a motivated team of students to support the new Ozarks Sustainability Initiative in the Department of Geography, Geology, and Planning at Missouri State University. This program can provide education and research opportunities for graduate students interested in range of fields. We are particularly interested in students that want to use geospatial/UAV technology and/or innovative field work to address environmental and social problems.
Graduate students can work in the following research areas for their thesis projects, some of which are being funded by the US Forest Service, US Environmental Protection Agency, Missouri Department of Natural Resources, and local governments:

1) Environmental history and management of forests
2) Historical mining impacts on river ecosystems
3) Watershed assessment and planning
4) Sustainable tourism development
5) Cultural heritage preservation
6) Environmental planning and community development
7) Geological and Climate change effects on water resources
8) Hydrological and Water quality monitoring
9) Fluvial geomorphology of Ozark Rivers
10) Public perceptions and attitudes about water resources

Graduate Assistantship Funding in teaching and research are available within tracks in geography, planning, geospatial science and geology in the Department of Geography, Geology, and Planning and Ozarks Environmental and Water Resources Institute (OEWRI) in Springfield.  Assistantships include a stipend of $11,175 to $13,600 per year with full tuition remission for both in- and out-of-state students.
