Hello all,

Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library (CMCPL) is looking for a Senior Systems Support Tech to come and join our team! Montgomery County has a population that just topped 200,000 and is finally getting a much-overdue expansion of library services in a first branch library. We are in the midst of designing this library to be built in North Clarksville - we need an energetic, knowledgeable team player to help us both support technology in the current main library and to be a part of this exciting branch project.

CMCPL is located in Montgomery County in downtown Clarksville, which is about an hour northwest of Nashville. SUMMARY

This position manages, organizes and coordinates the computer and information technology assets and needs of the main Public Library in coordination with County IS.

ALLOCATED HOURS: 40, Full-Time Exempt

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.


*         Maintains technology inventory and creates 3-year technology replacement plan.

*         Updates and maintains all computer equipment as scheduled and needed, including Automated Materials Handling System.

  *   Provides annual training for and assists the library staff in the use of software and databases.
  *   Accomplishes scheduled database MARC extracts and transmits to State.
  *   Runs monthly ILS reports for statistical purposes. Creates custom reports as needed.
  *   Works with Director on development of long-range computer equipment planning and budgeting for the library.
  *   Performs yearly removal of inactive circulation accounts and fines over six years old.
  *   Prepares bid information for large computing services purchases.
  *   Attends professional meetings to represent library; makes presentations to various groups for promotion of library services.
  *   Supervises network activity and maintains connections for software compatibility; assigns login rights.
  *   Answers and handles trouble calls from within the library; provides information, advice and guidance; takes and relays messages and/or directs calls to appropriate personnel.
  *   Provides upkeep and maintenance of network/computer systems performing installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of hardware equipment and software applications.
  *   Researches innovative ideas and software applications on a regular basis to ensure continued advancement in the library's use of technology.
  *   Assists Director and other staff with special projects; performs reference and circulation functions as needed; performs flexible assignments as requested.

*         Attends committee meetings and other meetings as assigned.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS


*         Possesses considerable knowledge of the policies, procedures, and activities of the library and library management practices as they pertain to the performance of duties relating to the job of Sr. System Support Tech.

*         Knows how to keep abreast of any changes in policy, methods, computer operations, equipment needs, etc. as they pertain to departmental operations and activities.

*         Effectively communicates and interacts with members of the general public, and other groups involved in the activities of the Library.

*         Is able to assemble information and make written reports and documents in a concise, clear and effective manner.

*         Possesses good organizational, human relations, and technical skills. Is able to use independent judgment.

*         Possesses the ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply principles and methods utilized within the discipline of computer technology.

*         Possesses the mathematical ability to handle required calculations using percentages and decimals.

*         Is knowledgeable and proficient with computers and computer software as they pertain to the duties of Sr. System Support Tech.

*         Is able to read, understand, and interpret statistical and financial reports and related materials.


MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree required. Knowledge of library Integrated Library Systems with related computer training is desired.  MCSA and A+ certification preferred, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The incumbent frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The incumbent is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb or balance. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
