Subject: Applications Open!! USFWS 2020 Directorate Fellows Program!

Greetings!

We are pleased to announce that applications for the 2020 U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Directorate Fellows Program are now open!! Application Deadline: January 10, 2020.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) is collaborating with the American Conservation Experience, Greening Youth Foundation, Hispanic Access Foundation and the Student Conservation Association conservation partner organizations this year to assist with recruitment, application, and administration of over 100 Fellowship project opportunities nationwide!

What is the Directorate Fellows Program (DFP)?

DFP is the premiere Fellowship program of FWS, designed by the Directorate to attract talented and diverse students that may be eligible for permanent employment with FWS upon completing all requirements of the program. DFP provides a full-time, paid 11-week, rigorous Fellowship opportunity that supports FWS priorities to students interested in conservation related careers.

These Fellowships offer a unique opportunity to gain special direct hire authority (upon successful completion of the program requirements), which enables FWS (and other land management agencies) to be able to hire former Fellows into permanent, full-time positions within two years of their graduation without having to use the competitive application process.

Who is eligible to apply for DFP?

· US citizens or permanent residents 17 or older, who are current enrolled students or accepted for enrollment as:

§ Rising seniors or current seniors in undergraduate program

§ Students in graduate degree programs
Who:
· Will not complete their degree requirements before they complete their DFP 11-week fellowship (ending in August/September 2020)
· Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
· Are available for 12 consecutive weeks during the summer of 2020 (1-week mandatory Orientation, 11- week Fellowship)
· Have interest, education, or experience in the conservation field

· How do interested applicants apply for the DFP?
o A list of all the projects by state can be found here<https://nctc.fws.gov/documents/dfp/2020-Directorate-Fellows-Program-Project-List.pdf>
o Refer to the flyer (attached) for the list of states that you are interested in working in under each partner organization (see flyer), and apply at the respective partner website (before 1/10/2020).

o Follow the application procedures on the partner websites - each partner may use a slightly different process.

o If you are interested in project locations nationwide, we recommend applying to all of the partner sites so that you can be considered for the maximum project location opportunities!

o Application deadline: January 10, 2020

Refer to the program flyer (attached) for additional information on the program and the application instructions. For questions, contact the FWS Recruitment team at: [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.

For specific application process questions, interested applicants may contact the appropriate partner organization below:
