From excellent 2019 regional conferences hosted by Blount (pictured here), Sumner and Hardeman Counties, we get to jump into an exciting 2020! You better save June 11th through 13th, 2020, for the TEMG State Conference that will feature farm to fork food, heirloom fruits and veggies, rhododendrons at Roan Mountain, fly fishing, daylilies, herbs, pollinators and much, much, more!

Welcome to our NEW Tennessee Extension Master Gardener eblast!

Keeping you connected with EMG happenings around Tennessee

November News:

1) Welcome to our New Regional Representatives!
We are looking forward to working with our new regional representatives on the Extension Master Gardener Workgroup! They will serve as great volunteer voices on all things EMG in TN.
Eastern Region- Andrea McGinn- Knox County
Central Region- Jennifer Salter- Rutherford County
Western Region- Ginny Fletcher- Shelby County

2) Kickoff of our NEW statewide networking group called Cultivating Connections!
On November 8th after our statewide zoom call (which you can watch at the link below), we had a meeting of the MG CC group. We are focusing on plans for 2020 including a statewide service showcase on June 12th at the state conference and a local leadership summit in October.

We are looking for a key communicator from each local group to be the CC contact person. We already have folks on board from Knox, Roane, Sevier, Bradley, Rutherford, Wilson, Warren, Robertson, Sumner, Williamson, Shelby, Dyer, and Tipton County. Our Regional Reps are working now to recruit a person from the rest of our groups. If you are interested, please let Natalie know- just send her a quick email here: [log in to unmask]

3) Search for Excellence Applications
It is time to share and showcase the great service projects and volunteers in your local EMG group through our Tennessee Search for Excellence Awards. There are award categories for all types of service projects from demonstration garden projects to educational events to youth and research. There is also the opportunity to recognize outstanding EMG volunteers and local partners.

All the applications can be found in this Google Drive:

So, I ask each local group to share some of their numbers and accomplishments for  the year. Here is the simple to fill out form we use to collect those numbers.

See you in 2020 for a fabulous TEMG year!!

As Extension Master Gardeners, we get amazing things done in our local communities! Balancing all of that work with some good fun is critical to keeping our groups engaging and active. This presentation was our November statewide networking Zoom meeting all about "Balancing Work and Fun in the Local Group". It was given live on November the 8th, but we also recorded it for folks to who missed the original meeting. This presentation provides a great foundation for lots of fun and leadership development in our local groups in 2020!
