Description:

This position provides management and oversight for all Collections department activities and services, especially physical and intellectual access to electronic and print resources made available by Kaufman Library. Duties include acquisition and resource management; resource assessment; service as a liaison with other internal and external library stakeholders in collection development and resource management; and professional development for faculty and staff. This position may also have teaching, service, scholarship, and/or other administrative responsibilities. 

 

Essential Functions:

·       Manages and provides oversight of all aspects of collection development and resource management including the collections budget

·       Develops and implements departmental assessments and participates in Library-wide assessment initiatives

·       Directly supervises and/or oversees all Collections librarians and staff

·       Manages departmental administrative/strategic planning and policy development and implementation along with annual reporting of departmental progress

·       Performs liaison work with internal and external library stakeholders

·       Performs other duties as required

 

Required Qualifications:

·       Graduate Degree in ALA-accredited or BOR-approved Master’s Degree in Library or Information ScienceALA-accredited or BOR-approved Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science

·       Evidence of substantial knowledge and understanding of key issues and trends in collection development and resource management, academic libraries, and higher education

·       Evidence of ability to supervise and direct one or more departments in an academic environment

·       Experience with assessment including analysis of results

·       Evidence of ability to initiate innovative ideas

·       Experience in policy and procedure development and implementation

·       Evidence of commitment to user-centered service to students and faculty in an academic institution

·       Evidence of effective communication, interpersonal relationships, and collaborative efforts involving diverse faculty, students, staff, administrators, and others outside of the institution

·       Evidence of strong organizational and analytic skills

·       Evidence of contribution to professional scholarship and service

·       At least 4 years of experience working with collection development and/or technical services and at least 5 years of library experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Experience with an EX Libris ILS product

 

Physical Requirements:

Position may require local travel. Ability to lift and carry files and materials. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus. Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone and in writing. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
