Dear all,

The activity of GEOG 420 class this semester described below might be of your interest.

The Geography Department has been trying to promote community services among students via service learning. In that effort, GEOG 420 – GIS in the community – is a service learning course in which students will be exposed to challenges facing local community organizations.  Working collaboratively, students will use their experiences and draw on their collective understanding of interdisciplinary perspectives to plan, develop and implement a GIS project that satisfies the needs of a community organization.

GEOG 420 this semester has three clients:

Students have been working diligently with their clients to design and implement various GIS projects which meet the clients’ needs. The class will present their projects (e.g., turnkey delivery, lessons learnt) from 11 am to noon on Wednesday, December 4, at Andy Holt Tower’s 8th floor conference room, located at 1331 Circle Park Drive in Knoxville, TN.

If this activity is of interest to you, we would like to invite you to attend the presentations of GEOG 420 students.

Sincerely,
