We’ve got an opening for a contract position (with the possibility of converting to full time) on the IT team I work closely with here at Discovery. It seems like an ideal position for an SIS grad and we wanted to see if you could pass the job description to any interested candidates.

Job Description:

We’re looking for a systems analyst to join one of our development teams. In our teams, the systems analyst is responsible for understanding how functionality – which is often multi-faceted – is accomplished across multiple components and/or applications. A core faculty supporting this responsibility is understanding how data flows within and between applications. Therefore, it will be necessary for the successful candidate to grasp such system integration and data flow concepts rather quickly, so that they can contribute to the objective of ensuring our systems operate smoothly and continue to meet the business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  * Develop knowledge of systems integration mechanisms and a thorough understanding of the data flows through our contractual, media inventory, and workflow management systems to feed content distribution systems.
  * Use the above understanding to support upcoming system integrations, efforts to improve data consistency & quality, and assist in resolving production issues arising from misalignment between systems and/or processes.
  * Work with a cross functional team and product owner to produce high quality software by participating in feature discussions and test-driven development
  * Create and maintain system and user documentation

Qualifications:
• Analytical thinking and top-notch problem decomposition skills
• A strong knowledge of relational database concepts, concrete skills such as strong SQL, and familiarity with common tools
• Excellent communication skills to work within the team as well as across teams to develop understanding of problems and communicate findings and suggest resolutions to interested stakeholders

Please contact Arash Farsi ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) and Chris Goodacre ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) with a cover letter and resume.

Let me know if you have any follow-up questions. Thank you!
