DESCRIPTION
The Systems Librarian provides strategic direction and technical expertise for Kaufman Library including development, implementation, administration, and security of library technology and resource applications and services as well as providing customer support of library hardware and software. In addition, the Systems Librarian serves as the library’s web manager. This faculty, non-tenure track position reports to the Associate Dean of Library Services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

·       Administer the integrated library system, and other specialized library systems and software, including managing and supporting daily system operation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting ensuring optimal performance

·       Advise library leadership on current and emerging technologies that advance teaching and learning needs at GGC

·       Contribute to system administration processes including creating and maintaining policy and procedure documentation

·       Provide troubleshooting and technical support for all library staff computers

·       Provide support/backup to Information Commons and Access Services staff in providing troubleshooting and technical support for all Information Commons computers and lending technology

·       Collaborate with GGC Digital Communications to maintain and manage website content and design

·       Collaborate with GGC Office of Educational Technology in developing and implementing projects

·       Collaborate with University System of Georgia GIL/GALILEO in developing and implementing projects pertaining to the consortium

·       Serve as library liaison to one or more discipline areas

·       Participate in Library and College committees

·       Perform all other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

·       ALA-accredited master’s degree in library or information science

·       Minimum of one year of experience in integrated library systems, discovery services, OpenURL resolvers, proxy services, and digital repositories in a higher education environment

·       Evidence of knowledge of current library technologies, platforms, systems, and products that support information access and discovery as well as emerging digital technologies

·       Evidence of ability to work as a member of a team as well as independently

·       Evidence of commitment to user-centered service to students and faculty in an academic institution

·       Evidence of strong communication skills, both verbal and written

·       Evidence of ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a diverse environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

·       Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related technical field

·       Demonstrated experience with Ex Libris Primo and Alma systems

·       Demonstrated experience with OpenAthens, EZproxy, and RFID technology

·       Demonstrated experience working in a library consortium environment

·       Demonstrated experience in web development and design

·       Evidence of project management experience

·       Evidence of experience with, or capacity to learn, HTML, web standards and some programming languages.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Position may require local travel. Ability to lift and carry files and materials. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus. Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone and in writing. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
