Government agencies benefit by having less roadway congestion and by companies locating more industrial development in appropriate locations. Supply chain companies benefit by being able to transport their goods or their customers' goods more quickly and cheaply. One innovation that has emerged in recent years as a way to increase transportation supply chain efficiency is using real time information to track freight shipments. Tracking freight shipments provides a variety of benefits to both private and public sector organizations focused on freight transportation concerns. For private freight companies, shipment tracking can help narrow delivery windows, lower shipment costs, and provide insights into methods to improve the transportation portion of the supply chain. For public sector organizations, shipment tracking can help reduce roadway congestion and when working with private companies, potentially allow those government organizations to better target their transportation project expenditures. Real time information can provide efficiency and cost benefits that then can be shared, both directly and indirectly, with the businesses and consumers reliant on those goods and the transportation network. This webinar will examine ways supply chain companies and government agencies are benefiting from increased use of real time shipment information in freight shipper and/or carrier operations and in public sector transportation project improvements. Enhancing Freight Shipment Visibility in the Supply Chain This presentation will provide an overview of different ways product-tracking technologies can help companies monitor their shipments and provide transportation system benefits. SPEAKER: * Evan Armstrong, Armstrong Associates Public Sector Initiatives to Provide Real Time Information for Freight Carriers This presentation will examine ways government agencies are working with various transportation stakeholders, including freight carriers, to provide real time information about transportation conditions.
