Job Description

Provide technical and operational support at the microcomputer and information technology level for Windows and MacOS systems required to support the faculty/staff of the Walker Library Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Support necessitates system administration, application administration, and other infrastructure related functions via phone, in person, chat or remote access. Computing environment encompasses servers, multiple platforms, classroom systems, and discipline specific equipment and software. A major part of this job is utilizing/managing Windows and MacOS servers that deploy operating systems, software for Windows and Apple based systems. Hands-on work is required for these systems and entail installation, custom configurations, troubleshooting, documentation of support interactions in campus FootPrints call tracking software and repair of software and hardware. Perform other related tasks and special projects as assigned.

Required Educational Qualifications and Field of Study

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Mathematics or related field.

Required Year(s) and Type of Work Experience

Three (3) years progressively responsible full time or six (6) years equivalent part- time progressively responsible experience that must include the installation, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of microcomputers (IBM compatible/Macintosh) and peripherals.

High school diploma and seven (7) years’ progressively responsible directly related as defined experience with installation, maintenance, diagnosing, and repair of microcomputers (IBM-compatible /Macintosh) and peripherals may be considered in lieu of the Bachelor’s degree. A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Mathematics or related field with no experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree with three years of experience may be considered.

Preferred Year(s) and Type of Work Experience

Five (5) years of professional experience as described above in a medium to large organization or higher education environment preferred.

Salary Range

$44,492 - $55,392; commensurate with experience
