Good afternoon!

Have you ever wanted to serve on a Volunteer State Book Award (VSBA) nominating committee?
We're looking for some new members for the Middle School Committee and the High School Committee!
In the past, the middle and high school lists were created by the same committee. After a vote from the TLA and TASL boards this summer, we have now split the committee into two separate groups.

There are only a couple of slots open on the high school committee, but we need several volunteers for the middle school committee. If you are interested in either of these groups, please send me an email directly ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>). Once we have filled the open spaces, we can always add you to our waiting list.

Here is a bit of general information about the VSBA (from https://www.tasltn.org/vsba):
"The Volunteer State Book Award is sponsored annually by the Tennessee Library Association and the Tennessee Association of School Librarians. Each year, children across Tennessee are asked to read books from a list of nominated titles. The Volunteer State Book Award has four divisions--Primary (K-2nd Grade), Intermediate (Grades 3rd-5th), Middle School (Grades 6-8), and High school (grades 9-12). In the spring, those students who have read or listened to at least three of the titles from the list are eligible to vote for their favorite titles. These votes are tabulated and sent to the state organization. The book with the most votes statewide wins the award. The author of the book receives a plaque and is invited to Tennessee to receive the award."

You may also want to check out the Selection Procedures for the Committees<https://www.tasltn.org/assets/docs/vsba/generaldocs/vsba_selection_procedures_2017.pdf>.
Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to volunteer!
Thank you,
