Kudos to Meschelyn Barrett and library staff for quick thinking -
For those who missed the July 1 WBIR-TV story, yesterday’s American Libraries Direct called attention to the story of the “Newport library recovers after June 17 storm damage traps staff member inside.”
Former Library Director Meschelyn Barrett was trying to save valuable history in the Stokely Memorial Library from the rain when the ceiling fell in.

Once again, just goes to show how dedicated, resourceful, and quick-thinking library staff are under all kinds of circumstances!!! (And so glad no one was hurt.)
Being out of space, the library has been planning for a new building: Sic parvis magna !
