Title: Instructor 9/10 Month/Librarian (Term)-
Cookeville/Livingston
Position Summary: This position is responsible for managing and providing
the professional library services at Upper Cumberland locations (Livingston Center and Cookeville Higher Education Campus) of Volunteer State Community College.
Duties and Responsibilities: Provide and promote research assistance
and information literacy/library instruction to students, faculty, and staff at the Upper Cumberland locations. Participate in library outreach efforts. Maintain data, including for instructional statistics and other recordkeeping needs. Assist in the creation,
design, and maintenance of library web content. Assist library users with general computer use and technical problems. Manage and provide circulation services for library materials in the Upper Cumberland. Contribute to collection development. Engages in professional
development activities to stay up-to-date with approaches, trends, technology, and software related to duties. Participates in service to the college by serving on library and college committees and attending faculty meetings and college events. Participates
in service to the community and/or academic discipline. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Master's degree in library and information
science (or its equivalent); or, a Master’s degree or higher plus relevant training and/or work experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in an academic library.
Teaching experience in a library, educational, or corporate environment. Previous library work experience. Evidence of proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience using print and electronic resources as offered by libraries. Customer service experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Work Characteristics: Classroom teaching
ability. Advanced skills searching print and electronic resources as offered by libraries.
Quality customer service skills as developed from working in a public services setting. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Excellent computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office. Ability to communicate effectively
and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population. Ability to create and maintain web pages and online learning objects. Attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Ability to manage multiple projects.
Flexibility, to include schedule adjustments and travel to different locations, as required
to provide library services.
Pay Rate: 32,960.00 - 41,200.00 annual salary depending on experience
