I'm pleased to share the good news that Luke Blentlinger has received a $4000 McClure scholarship to fund research in Costa Rica this summer!  Luke will begin his adventure coring lakes near Buenos Aires with Sally Horn and her collaborator Luis Guillermo Artavia from the University of Costa Rica (UCR).  Following the field work, he'll stay on in Costa Rica to conduct charcoal analysis on one of the cores with Professor Artavia and students in the Geomorphology lab in the School of Geography at UCR.  Luke will be teaching methods of sediment core analysis to the Costa Rican geographers, while learning more about tropical geography and ecology from them -- and practicing his Spanish!  Research toward his MS degree and a two-way educational exchange combined!

Congratulations to Luke!

Sincerely,

Sally Horn
