GS 11/12 0482 White Sulphur Springs NFH, White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia Fish Biologist (Mussel)
The vacant Mussel Biologist position at White Sulphur Springs NFH is now open on USA jobs. The Mussel Biologist will be responsible for leading the mussel program in all phases of freshwater mussel propagation and culture including cool/warm water fish production and maintenance associated with mussel propagation. Other mussel duties will include developing new systems and methodologies to improve the efficiency and increase the production of freshwater mussels.
In addition to the mussel duties, this position will also be responsible for assisting staff with Rainbow Trout broodstock production. The hatchery is a member of the National Broodstock Program that raises disease-free rainbow trout and eggs that are shipped to other federal, state and tribal hatcheries throughout the country. White Sulphur Springs NFH operates a state-of-the-art aquatic resource restoration center, to recover endangered species of freshwater mussels and other threatened and endangered aquatic species such as, the Big Sandy and Guyandotte River crayfishes and Candy darter in West Virginia.
