I'm not sure if our recruiting department has reached out to the University lately but I thought I would make contact with someone in the Geography Department directly. 

My name is Eric Gray and I am the Geographic Programs Section Chief in the U.S. Census Bureau's Geography Branch at the National Processing Center.  We have a lot of opportunities coming very soon for GIS work from entry level to intermediate.  Our branch currently employs more than 500 personnel in the Geography field and we're still growing.  Right now, we have a Cartographic Technician position posted on USAjobs.gov which may be of interest to your graduate level students and recent graduates.

This position deals with procedure writing, training and verification of work related to Census Geography.  We deal mostly with addresses and various types of boundaries in ArcGIS and a variety of proprietary systems developed just for Census.

At any rate, we're right across the river from Louisville, KY in Jeffersonville, IN.  We will have more positions available soon at various pay grades and experience levels within our Geography Branch and I wanted to make sure someone in your department was aware of what we currently have available.
