The UTK Chapter of Gamma Beta Phi is currently taking applications for the $500 Yasir Ghazi  Leadership Scholarship and soliciting nominations for the 2019-2020 UTK GBP Executive Board.  Any UTK GBP Chapter member is eligible for both applications.  These applications are due April 3rd by midnight. The scholarship winner and the 2019-2020 UTK GBP Executive Board will be announced on April 12th at 5:30 pm during the GBP general meeting.

$500 Yasir Ghazi Essay Annual Scholarship- ($250 fall 2019 & $250 spring 2020) Due April 3rd by midnight

·       Summary: One time $500 scholarship.

·       Eligibility: UTK GBP chapter member with high academic standing who demonstrates authentic leadership and excellence as exemplified through academic achievement and extracurricular activities, including commitment to community service.

·       Amount: $500- divided into fall 2019 and spring 2020

·       How to Apply: Summit a 2-page double space essay to Dr. JP - [log in to unmask] by April 3rd at midnight. Essay should include:

o   What does leadership mean to you?

o   Why is leadership important? Past leadership positions? How have these positions shaped your career?

o   What are your personal and professional leadership goals?

·       Selection will be based on the essay. Winner will be announced at the GBP general meeting April 12th at 5:30 pm at HSS room 207.


2019-2020 UTK GBP Executive BoardDue April 3rd by midnight

Position - President, UTK Gamma Beta Phi

The duties of the President shall be: to preside at the meetings; to appoint committees; to guide the activities and administer the policies laid down in the national constitution and in the Chapter by-laws; to be the official representative of this Chapter when necessary or desirable; and to file with National Headquarters the year-end Chapter Report in June.

 

Position - Vice President, UTK Gamma Beta Phi

The duties of the Vice-President shall be: to preside at meetings when the President is absent, to assume the duties of the presidency should the President be unable to serve, and to assist in administering the affairs of the Chapter.

 

Position – Treasurer, UTK Gamma Beta Phi Chapter

The duties of the Treasurer shall be: to collect, safeguard, and disburse the funds of the Chapter; to keep a complete and accurate record of all financial transactions; to complete the year-end Financial Report in June; and to pass on to the succeeding Treasurer all funds remaining in the treasury and to give the Advisor all financial records.

 

Position – Recording Secretary, UTK Gamma Beta Phi Chapter

The duties of the Recording Secretary shall be: to prepare and keep an on-going record of minutes of the meetings and to order and properly disburse material from Headquarters.

 

Position – Corresponding Secretary, UTK Gamma Beta Phi Chapter

The duties of the Correspondence Secretary shall be: to keep the records of membership and points; to carry on the general correspondence of the Chapter; and to keep National Headquarters informed about all changes in membership and reasons therefor. It is understood that the two Secretaries will assist each other as needed, equally dividing the work.

 

Position – Historian, UTK Gamma Beta Phi Chapter

The duties of the Historian shall be: to keep photographic records of the Chapter's activities; to submit articles and pictures to the National Office for publication in the Gambet; and to oversee the preparation of the scrapbook for the state and national conventions.

 

Position – Webmaster, UTK Gamma Beta Phi Chapter

The duties of the Webmaster shall be: to perform the technical requirements of the Chapter website and social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) to include the up-loading of information and/or events communications; to maintain the Webmaster e-mail account; to coordinate with Chapter officers, group and committee leaders, and individual members in gathering information to be disseminated via the website; and to prepare and submit information to the National Office for publication on the national website.
