If you are not graduating until Fall 2019 or later, you may be eligible to apply for NSF REU programs, such as the one below to be held at Mountain Lake,  Virginia.  Former students have had some wonderful REU experiences!  REU stands for Research Experience for Undergrads, and typically these programs cover your expenses and pay you a stipend!

Join undergraduates from around the country for a unique 10-week learning and living research experience in the southern Appalachians. Students conduct independent research in field ecology, evolution, behavior, and physiology under the supervision of resident scientists. REUs are internships that include all station costs, travel, and a $5,500 stipend.
