Subject: [pla-leaders] new brief: Libraries and the 2020 Census

Good afternoon everyone.

Today ALA released a new policy brief, "Libraries and the 2020 Census"<https://bit.ly/CountOnLibraries>.

The document explains how decision makers, including state and local policymakers, can partner with libraries as they work to ensure their communities are fully represented in the 2020 Census.

Libraries:

  * Deliver information about the Census and host community outreach activities.
  * Provide internet access and enable respondents to complete the Census form online.
  * Serve as trusted messengers, including in hard-to-count communities.
  * Train data users and provide access to Census statistics for businesses and community members.
Please share widely in your communities. A great way is posting on your social media accounts - a sample message is below:
In 2010, libraries hosted more than 6,000 Census outreach sites. With the 2020 Census taking place primarily online, libraries' roles are expanding: https://bit.ly/CountOnLibraries #CountOnLibraries

Thanks as always for your support, and special thanks to the Census task force<http://www.ala.org/advocacy/govinfo/census>, including PLA President-Elect Ramiro Salazar and PLA board members Tracy Strobel and Kelvin Watson.

Warm regards, Larra
