Aaron/Todd,
Please share this exciting announcement with the FMT for me:
The Pendills Creek NFH Complex, GS-0482-13, Project Leader vacancy announcement will officially open on Tuesday October 9, 2018 and remain open through Monday October 22, 2018. A link to the vacancy announcement is provided below.
The Pendills Creek NFH Complex includes Pendills Creek NFH and Sullivan Creek NFH, both located in the upper Peninsula of Michigan near the town of Sault Ste Marie.
The Pendills Creek NFH sits adjacent to Whitefish Bay along the south shore of Lake Superior. Sullivan Creek NFH is roughly 20 miles inland from Pendills Creek NFH. Both hatcheries are supported by gravity flow spring water.
The primary mission of the Complex is to produce 1.1 million lake trout yearlings for restoration programs in the upper Great Lakes, and to maintain several strains of lake trout brood as an egg source for the national brood stock program. The Complex is in excellent condition having benefited from several recent facility and equipment upgrades, and recently received nearly $3 million in Construction funds to upgrade effluent treatment capabilities and incoming water lines. The Complex has a small but vibrant Friends Group, and good support locally.
Sault Ste Marie Michigan is a vibrant small community with a population of around 17,000. It is also home to
Lake Superior State University, which has a quality Fisheries Program having produced numerous current FWS Fisheries employees. A neighboring Canadian sister city of nearly 75,000, is directly across an international bridge in Canada.
Additional information on the hatchery Complex, the upper Peninsula, and Sault Ste Marie, can be found at the following links.
I encourage anyone interested in this position to reach out to me directly.
Thank you.
