Geographers,

If you are planning on attending the SEDAAG meeting in November and you need to print a poster, I’m going to need that by Wednesday November 14^th at midnight. I’ll start printing on Thursday. A couple of suggestions about posters:

• The maximum paper width I have is 42”. We can make the poster longer, but not any wider. So for instance, the finished poster can be 48” wide and 42” tall. But use the dimensions that SEDAAG has set.
• Make sure you leave a ½ inch margin around your poster without any important text, graphics, etc. That will likely get cut off when we print.
• PDF’s and PowerPoint files are great
• If you don’t already have a poster template you are planning on using, don’t reinvent the wheel. Use the ones that UTK makes available at http://brand.utk.edu/presentations/using-research-poster-templates/
• Is this your first academic poster? Follow some guidelines so that people actually want to learn about your research.

• Depending on the resolution and file size of your poster, it could literally take hours to process on the plotter and then an additional half hour to actually print. That’s why I need these early.
• Send me the files via email. If the files are too large to email, feel free to bring me a flash drive with your poster or send it to me using the UTK Vault at https://vault.utk.edu/
• I don’t have any poster tubes.
• I don’t have time to proofread your posters before I print them.
• It wouldn’t hurt to have your faculty advisor review your poster before you send it to me.
• I don’t re-print posters that have typos.
• BUT – GIS Day is coming up on Wednesday November 14 and I’d be happy to hang your posters up in the library if they are done early (even if they aren’t GIS focused). That way you can see the posters full size and get some feedback before SEDAAG. Then you can make some edits and I’ll be happy to re-print them.
• Stop by the 2^nd Floor of BGB to see some past posters that are on display.
