Hey Mike,

There is a new GIS course being offered in the spring semester focusing on tree/plant inventories for public gardens. Maybe it is of interest of some Geography students in your side of the world? Bonus, I may be guest lecturing one day.

Maria.

Attached is the revised flyer for the Spring GIS course. Please distribute a post around campus. I'll get some printed and post on the ag campus. I'll be sending a revised syllabus as soon as I make updates for Spring semester.

Thanks.

Nancy

Hi everyone, the room in the South Greenhouse where I wanted to meet is being used unexpectantly for student testing today. Plan to meet in the building next door….The Environmental Landscape Laboratory design lab classroom which is right at the end of the building on the UT Gardens end.

Hi all, I’d like to get us together to discuss the technology available for mapping the UT Gardens tree and shrub collection and just how to proceed forward. Tim and Maria, you have not met retired UT faculty PJ Snodgrass or Nancy Howell, but they both have an OIT background and a keen interest in helping to map the Gardens. Also, the two of them are working with Joanne and me on offering a new course in Plant Sciences titled Applications of GPS/GIS in Public Gardens and Arboreta.

I’d like for them to meet you both and hear about what you do and then for us all to discuss the latest technology available for us to use in advancing our project and class. Please take this Doodle Poll so we can find a good meeting date:

Many thanks, Sue
