I just wanted to pass along this exciting new opening available at the University of Georgia School of Law Library.  Anyone that will have a J.D. and MLS prior to January 1st are encouraged to apply.  The posting is below:


The Alexander Campbell King Law Library at the University of Georgia School of Law is seeking applicants for a newly established librarian position to serve our faculty and students in our extensive clinical programs and to provide competitive research to the administrative offices of the School of Law.  Applications received by September 7, 2018 are assured of consideration, but applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  *   Serves as Clinical Faculty and Students Liaison
     *   Maintain knowledge of legal research, current awareness, practice, technology, and reference tools for the clinical faculty
     *   Regularly promote library services to the clinical faculty and students using a variety of communication methods
     *   Answer requests for research and reference assistance from the clinical faculty and students.
  *   Conduct research, analyze results, and provide findings to administrative offices in support of the strategic initiatives of the School of Law
     *   Develop electronic news briefs for the School of Law
     *   Communicate with the administrative offices of the School of Law to promote library resources and services
  *   Offer legal research instruction
     *   Participate in planning and teaching of first year, advanced, and/or specialized legal research courses
     *   Provide additional legal research instruction such as class presentations, targeted instructional programs or continuing legal education seminars
  *   Answer faculty requests for research and reference assistance
  *   Participate in the management of the law library by actively contributing to the planning, evaluating and implementing best practices for library services, resources and technologies
  *   Participate in professional, scholarly and service activities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and an ALA-accredited master's degree in librarianship or information science.  Degrees must be completed prior to candidate's starting date of employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  A successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal communication skills (including a welcoming manner, active listening, and nonjudgmental response); excellent project management skills; demonstrated ability to work with all library patrons and staff in a friendly, courteous, and professional fashion; enthusiasm for contributing to a collaborative work environment; demonstrated ability to work independently and collegially; at least one year experience as an attorney or librarian in a law firm setting; and demonstrated ability to provide classroom instruction.
