Job Description:

Position: Instruction Librarian
Department: Plough Library  
Reports To: Library Director

Job Purpose:
The Instruction Librarian plans, provides, and promotes information literacy and library skills to the campus through research assistance and instruction in the classroom, online, and one-on-one; the production of handouts and tutorials; and the provision of reference services.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides research instruction for all disciplines throughout the university.
• Creates instructional material.
• Coordinates research instruction initiatives for the library.
• Collects and reports statistics related to library instruction.
• Promotes information literacy throughout the campus.
• Promotes library services.
• Assists patrons with reference questions in all subjects using print and online resources.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serves as a liaison to assigned departments.
• Participates in collection development.
• Keeps current with professional developments in the field.
• Serves on university committees as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program.
• Two years library or comparable experience.
• Ability to use software programs for statistical collection, document production, and presentations.
• Familiarity with instructional design software.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift material weighing up to 40 pounds.

Preferred:

• Experience in Higher Education.
• Experience with Moodle or other learning management system.
