JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the Library Director, the librarian (1) provides leadership in the discovery of collections by performing copy and original cataloging based on current standards, procedures, and linked data technologies. He/she develops appropriate cataloging/metadata standards, quality control oversight and database maintenance activities for the library catalog and related databases. (2) In collaboration with subject liaisons, provides leadership for building, assessing, and maintaining collections across curriculum, including selection and acquisition of print resources. (3) offers research assistance in person and virtual, and library instructional support to students, faculty, and staff. Instructional support will be for students taking classes at off-site locations and in online learning environments. In addition, this this position serves as a liaison librarian to one or more academic units and will serve on library and institutional committees. The successful candidate will have great organizational, analytical, decision- making, problem-solving, and great planning skills.

JOB STANDARDS:
● MLIS/MIS/MLS degree or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution.
● Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply content, structure, data encoding , and
value standards such as RDA, DCRM, LCSH, AACR2, LCC Dublin Core, and MARC21
coding.
● Ability to utilize library’s integrated management systems and workflows.
● Experience using tools such as OCLC Connexion and MarcEdit.
● High level of proficiency with personal computers and library systems.
● Training (and regular updates to knowledge) in OCLC standards and community
practices.*
● Regular updates to knowledge in the areas of resource acquisition, publisher and other
information broker trends, collection development, and metadata standards.*
● Administrator expertise for Alma and ContentDM.*
*Although required knowledge to perform job duties, the starred items in the list above can be acquired via on-the-job training.
