Birmingham-Southern College seeks a forward-thinking MLIS student with a passion for public services to work part-time in the library reference department during the Fall 2017 semester (15 hours per week for 14 weeks). Pay
is $2500 for the semester. Responsibilities will include: providing face-to-face and online research assistance, creating and enhancing library guides, exploring and implementing
social media outreach, and assisting with weeding and re-organization projects in the library. Other duties as assigned. Schedule
is somewhat flexible, with some weekend and/or evening hours expected. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Important:
You must have completed at least 18 hours of graduate work in Library & Information Studies, including an introductory reference class, to qualify for this position.
Dates: August 29 – December 7, 2018
15 hours per week for 14 weeks
$2,500 for the semester, paid in monthly installments
Duties:
Staff reference desk, possibly including some evening or weekend hours.
Create and/or edit LibGuides
Assist with maintaining the Library blog
Assist with library displays
Assist with weeding
Other projects as assigned
