Forgive any cross-postings; we are looking for a wide distribution of these announcements.

We have gotten a good candidate pool for the recent advertisement for a longleaf-focused Research Ecologist or Research Forester scientist position at Auburn, AL, but we'd like a few more applicants, so we've extended this position for another week-it now is open until July 27! For those that have already applied through USAJOBS, there is no need to apply again; for those that may know of someone who may be interested and qualified, please encourage them to apply for this PhD-level scientist position.

I would also like to call people's attention to the SECOND research scientist position now being advertised for the Auburn location of the Southern Research Station, provided at the bottom of this message. This position is for a GS-12 or GS-13 Research Forester/Research Engineer to be staffed in Dr. Dana Mitchell's Forest Operations Research Work Unit, and will lead and collaborate in research and development activities focused on timber harvesting production rates, costs, and ecological impacts as they relate to the forest sector. Please look at her trailing message for the USAJOBS link and further details, and direct any relevant questions on that position to her.

Here is the original posting for the longleaf scientist position, modified to reflect the minor changes made:

The Southern Research Station of the USDA Forest Service is seeking a diverse and dynamic pool of candidates for an exciting opportunity to design and develop a research program focusing on the ecology and silviculture of longleaf pine. This position, duty stationed at the George W. Andrews Forestry Sciences Laboratory in Auburn, Alabama, is a permanent, full-time GS-12 or GS-13 Research Ecologist/Research Forester scientist position.

Details of this position can be found on the USAJOBS website: https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/504205200

This position is open for applications starting immediately, and will remain open until Friday, July 27, 2018. Anticipated starting date will be at the end of calendar year 2018 (at the earliest) or as otherwise negotiated. All applications must be completed and submitted following the guidance on the USAJOBS website. I am happy to answer any questions people may have regarding the position; the application process must be completed on USAJOBS, however, and questions about that site should be directed to their system administrators.

Thanks,
Don
