Job Description:

• Position: Periodicals Coordinator
• Department: Plough Library
• Reports to: Library Director

Job Purpose:

Managing the library's journal collection; conducting clerical and administrative tasks in support of the library's and archives operations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manages the library's journal collection and subscriptions both current and no-longer subscribed titles; receives, shelves, shifts, weeds, recycles; corrects and keeps up-to-date records on serials in the integrated library system
• Coordinates stacks maintenance for the print journal collection; participates in stack maintenance and inventory of the reference and circulating collections
• Assists in the processing and management of Archives' materials
• Retrieves and delivers files for the Registrar; makes scans and photocopies; inputs data into software programs

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

• Opens library and readies it for day
• Monitors petty cash drawer
• Places service calls as needed
• Receives and distributes mail
• Monitors inventory of office supplies and places orders as needed
• Participates in the planning and improving of services, functions, and policies
• Collects statistics and prepares reports (serials, supplies, paper ordering, archives processing etc.)
• Assists users with equipment
• Other duties as assigned

Preferred:

• Library work experience
• Experience with journals processing or serials management
• Experience with using an integrated library system

Working Conditions: Full time, M-F, 7:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.; some weekends, evenings possible

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree
• Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to work in a networked environment
• Internet search skills
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to lift 40 pounds and push loaded carts

Preferred:

• Library work experience
• Experience with journals processing or serials management
• Experience with using an integrated library system
