Position Summary Information

Basic Function

Under the direction of the Loudoun Campus Dean of Learning & Technology
Resources, assumes overall responsibility for library instruction and
reference services.
Duties and Responsibilities

Manage library instruction program for the Loudoun Campus including
collaborating with other librarians and staff to ensure library instruction
requests are met. Develop and deliver effective instruction to classes
using appropriate technology, resources and pedagogical strategies.
Participate in instruction assessment activities. Provide individualized
reference and instruction assistance to students, faculty, staff and
community users. Participate in college faculty activities and professional
development. Participate in collection development. Participate in
supervision of library staff.
Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in library science or equivalent from an American Library
Association-accredited master’s degree program. Relevant library
instruction and/or academic teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications

Some supervisory and academic library experience. Some experience providing
instruction and reference services. Knowledge of all aspects of current
academic library services, including integrated library systems such as
Alma, reference and instruction, collection development, and technical user
support; demonstrated experience developing and using
research/instructional tools such as Libguides; awareness of current issues
and trends in libraries; experience using course management systems such as
Blackboard, online collaborative productivity tools such as Springshare
products, and content management systems; excellent interpersonal and
communication skills with the ability to interact with a diverse group of
students, faculty, and staff.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of library systems and practices; demonstrated ability to provide
effective library instruction and excellent customer service; good
organizational, technology, verbal and written communication skills;
knowledge of office productivity software such as MS Office.
