Subject: Position Open: UAB Libraries-Open Rank-Lister Hill Library of Health Sciences [Please excuse any cross-posting] The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Libraries is a seeking a proactive and inquisitive reference librarian who thrives in a fast-paced environment for the reference team at Lister Hill Library of the Health Sciences. The librarian in this position will serve as liaison to two nationally ranked schools in funding, biomedical research, education, and clinical care: the UAB Schools of Dentistry and Optometry. Responsibilities for this position include building relationships with expert faculty and students to support the research and educational goals of both programs. Basic responsibilities involve: research consultations, customized group and individual instruction, high-level searching assistance, collection review, and general reference services, including in-person, phone, email, chat, and virtual reference support and some rotating weekend hours. The successful candidate is expected to participate in university and library committees and contribute to the profession to build a record of progressive scholarly and professional achievement. Other important attributes include: a strong customer focus, initiative, a willingness to learn, flexibility, creativity, and excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
