JOB SUMMARY:

Marin Primary & Middle School is seeking a librarian for the 2018-2019 school year. We are looking for a candidate that can:

•Ensure that students, staff and faculty are effective users of technology, ideas, and information.

•Empower students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.

•Instill a love of learning in all students and ensure equitable access to information.

•Collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists to design and implement lessons and units of instruction, and assess student learning and instructional effectiveness.

•Provide the leadership and expertise necessary to ensure that the school library program is aligned with the mission, goals, and objectives of the school, and is an integral component of the learning/instructional program.


Essential Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

•Deliver Information Literacy and Digital Citizenship curriculum instruction.

•Evaluate, promote, and use existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning, supplement school resources, and connect the school with global learning.

•Work towards building and strengthening the professional development of teachers specifically in the area of integration of technology in the classroom.

•Provide reference services to students, faculty, staff, and parent community.

•Maintain the library catalog, book circulation, library website, and library research guides.

•Manage the library space (special events, after school homework club, ec.)


Qualifications:

•MA in Library Science  from an accredited program of the American Library Association.

•Certification (or ability to become certified) as a Common Sense Media Educator.

•Experience in private education preferred with a broad knowledge of primary and middle school literature.

•Experience in advising or supporting a Middle School advisory program.


Job Skills/Behavioral Skills Required:

•Proficiency with technology integration in the classroom.

•Computer literate with a variety of operating systems, platforms, and Learning Management Systems.

•Excellent written and oral communication skills.

•Well organized and detail oriented.
