Reference and Instruction Librarian

Carson-Newman University invites applicants for a Reference and Instruction Librarian in the
Stephens-Burnett Memorial Library.
The position is a full-time, eleven-month, tenure-track faculty position to begin August 2018.
Candidates for the position must have an ALA-accredited master’s degree and a minimum of five years of recent experience in information literacy instruction in higher education. (Experience
working with Science, Nursing, and Education students and faculty is preferred.)
Carson-Newman employs faculty and staff who are actively supportive, through a local church, of its aim as a university with a Christian commitment.
Candidates for the position of
Reference and Instruction Librarian will assist students, faculty, staff, and community users with their informational needs and provide instruction in library research and information literacy to upper
division and graduate students. They also will conduct workshops for faculty on library topics as needed and participate in the assessment of these services. Candidates will be expected to create multimedia and web-based library instruction and tutorials as
well as subject-specific research guides using Springshare’s LibGuides system.
The rank and salary will be commensurate with educational preparation and experience. Group life and health insurance as well as a 401K retirement plan are available on a participating
basis.
