Dear UTK Geographers:
Dr. Karen Till, a prominent cultural geographer at Maynooth University (Ireland), will be visiting me April 30-May 1. She is the area after having given a talk at Sewanee.
I realize that this a tough time in the semester, but I would like to provide students and faculty a chance to sit down with Karen for an hour to talk about her work, tell her about your work, and simply get to know each other (this type
of networking proves high valuable for many reasons).

For those who may not know Karen or her work, you still might consider coming to meet her (see link below for more bio information). Karen has been responsible for producing some important work on the politics of memory in post-World War
II Germany and the larger issue of socially just commemoration, memory-work, cities/places wounded by exclusion and violence, and the place-based ethics of care that is possible in a post-conflict context (see link below to her path breaking article in Political
Geography).
