Happy Friday, everyone!

ORE is hosting a rather important visitor on Tuesday who will be here to speak about a new initiative for the Air Force. It will involve both basic and applied research, so will be of interest to a broad audience. I’m including information for her presentation, which will be first thing Tuesday morning in the John D. Tickle Building.

The Office of Research and Engagement will host Colonel Elena Oberg, Vice Commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), during her visit UT to share information about AFRL’s new Science & Technology 2030 initiative, including current and future research opportunities with the Air Force, Tuesday, May 1.

Launched in September 2017 by Secretary of the US Air Force Heather Wilson, the 2030 initiative is in preparation of a new science and technology strategy that begins with outreach events like Oberg’s. AFRL has scheduled several such events at universities around the country to listen to “cutting-edge science and technology ideas for basic and applied research, as well as ideas on best practices to support innovative research organizations.”

Oberg’s presentation is open to faculty and graduate students. Those interested in attending her presentation can register here.

When: Tuesday, May 1, from 8-9:15 a.m.

Where: 405 John D. Tickle Building

UT calendar link

Please share this information with your departments/colleges as I think many will find this information beneficial.  Again, the audience is faculty and graduate students.

Thank you so much and have a great weekend!

Erin
