Job Description

Job Duties:
1. Provides information/reference services to Library users/clientele via in-person, telephone, e-mail, and/or other platforms/formats.

2. Conducts information literacy/library orientation presentations as scheduled by Reference Department.

3. Provides coverage in Reference Department during weekends/other times as scheduled.

4. Collaborates with Reference/Library colleagues in development/updating of Library website and resource guides for users.

5. Participates in collection development for designated University departments/programs.

6. Coordinates interlibrary service transactions for users/clientele at TSU main campus.

7. Assists TSU students, faculty, and researchers in establishing/maintaining personal interlibrary service accounts.

8. Monitors electronic interlibrary service systems on a daily basis.

9. Responds to requests for TSU resources on a daily basis.

10. Facilitates requests by TSU users for resources from other institutions via interlibrary service systems.

11. Retrieves/processes incoming and outgoing items for mailing and/or other delivery.

12. Maintains records/statistics of interlibrary transactions for Library/University reports.

13. Maintains relationships with other libraries/institutions regarding interlibrary transactions.

14. Documents invoices/notices involving late/unreturned items.

15. Communicates with users/institutions as necessary regarding unresolved transactions.

16. Serves on Library and/or University committees as assigned/appointed.

17. Markets interlibrary services as an extension of available academic resources.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience

Minimum Qualifications:
Master of Library/Information Science degree from a graduate program fully accredited by the American Library Association by June 30, 2018.

Desired Qualifications:
Meaningful education coursework and/or previous experience with electronic and traditional/print information resources, reference/public/customer services, and interlibrary systems/transaction procedures; experience and sensitivity to a highly diverse group of student users/clientele from undergraduate to graduate levels as well as faculty, staff, administrators, and internal/external researchers; comfort level in establishing, developing and maintaining collegial relationships in the University as well as with other libraries, universities, and other institutions involved in interlibrary service transactions; potential to meet University requirements for tenure/promotion in the areas of teaching/instruction/librarianship, research/creative activities, and University/public/community service.

This position will also involve flexibility regarding departmental work schedules which include evening/weekend hours; digital/online reference services; information literacy/bibliographic instruction/library orientation presentations; Library/University committee assignments; and collaborative teaching/research projects with other faculty/staff.
