Part-time Cataloger

The Center for Popular Music is searching for a part-time cataloger to help catalog its large collection of sheet music. Under direct supervision of the Librarian, the part-time cataloger will perform original and copy cataloging based on current standards. The qualified candidate will  work no more than 20 hours a week, with some flexibility on schedule within the hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.

 

Requirements:

·         Associates or Bachelor’s degree

·         Some library coursework and/or related work experience

·         Ability to learn and use computerized cataloging systems

·         Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

·         Excellent reading and comprehension skills

·         Basic computer and keyboard skills

 

Preferred:

·         MLS from an ALA accredited program

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

·         Adds, deletes, and edits bibliographic and item records in the local catalog.

·         Creates original records in the OCLC database that conform to OCLC bibliographic formats and standards.

·         Improves and updates substandard records in the OCLC database.

·         Other duties as assigned.
