Here is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to work in Fisheries.
It is a term position, which means the work is 'guaranteed' for 13 months,
and the selected individual has full leave and medical benefits (maybe
retirement too, not sure about that). If you are selected for a term
position like this one, and are performing well, your term can be extended
for an additional 13 months annually, up to 4 years maximum. Like any term
job, if it's not working out for you or the agency, or funding runs out,
the position can be terminated. This is an active program working with
endangered fish species from the Edwards Aquifer. It would be highly
unlikely funding would be cut. Because of all the restrictions to hiring
new federal employees, the FWS is hiring more terms to do the work. The
good news is that OPM (Office of Personnel Management) has changed the
restrictions on terms, so if you are selected for a term position, and it's
a good fit, the organization now has the ability to hire a term employee
into permanent status much easier than in the past. If anyone has any
questions, just let me know.

Happy job hunting.

Cindy
