There is an exhibition on Alvin York at the East Tennessee Museum of History on Gay Street through July 8.  It is well worth a visit.  It shows how researchers rediscovered the scene of York's WWI battle and used archaeology/ historic maps / gps / gis to explore the battlefield.  There is an extensive display of the work the researchers did and it includes the final terrain model they produced.  It is all very cool.  If any of your students are history buffs, they should definitely go see it.  There is a $5 admission.  (The museum also has extensive collections on East Tennessee including Davy Crockett's rifle, Betsy.)
