Interested in working to solve the world’s most pressing problems? Consider a
major
or minor
in sustainability!
As a student in the sustainability program, you will explore a systems approach to understanding
the connections among society, economic development, and environmental quality. Students who study sustainability are prepared to engage in the growing green economy and solve the world’s most pressing problems, such as curbing climate change, developing sources
of clean energy, ensuring food security and access to clean water and clean air for a growing human population.
Students can choose to major or minor in sustainability. The interdisciplinary program,
housed in the Department of Geography, draws on knowledge and methods in areas including ecology, earth sciences, geography, natural resource management and policy, economics, and philosophy.
The sustainability degree at UT stands out because of its focus on experiential learning.
Sustainability students will engage in community based learning and gain professional experience throughout the program.
