LAC Federal is seeking a Librarian to work for a federal agency in the Washington, D.C. metro area. Librarian will be in a public-facing role, managing reference requests both virtually and in-person, and will perform cataloging as needed. This is a full time long term (40 hour a week; Monday-Friday) benefited position.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Public service and reference
• Work in a team-oriented environment to achieve goals of the library
• Assist with library outreach
• Manages Government Documents page on library website
• Provides assistance to patrons in accessing depository items and resources
• Create original and copy-cataloged records for monograph, serial, and monograph-as-serial items and uploads these records into the library's OPAC

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree in Library/Information Science from an institution accredited by the ALA
• Public service experience required
• Extensive experience in providing reference services through regular duty at the reference desk and by responding to virtual information requests using a variety of databases
• Ability to learn quickly, be adaptable, and take on new tasks
• Thorough knowledge and experience in cataloging workflows; Experience with RDA, OCLC, MARC21 and other standards used in cataloging preferred
• GovDocs experience is preferred
• Various branding, marketing, and promotional activities experience preferred
