BridgeValley Community and Technical College seeks applicants for an Academic Research Library Director and Instructional Specialist. In an environment where constant change and transformation occur, BridgeValley's library is unique and non-traditional in that a majority of the collection is virtual. This exciting opportunity will provide support to faculty, students and staff at BridgeValley Community and Technical College's South Charleston and Montgomery campuses.

The position reports directly to the Vice President of Academic Affairs. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with each department, and to serve as an advisor for student organizations such as the Book Club.

Summary: Full-time, 12 month, benefits eligible, renewable term.

Examples of Duties

· Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to provide instruction and consultation services, collection development, and outreach to the campus community

· Travel between and residency on multiple campus locations as needed

· Library budget management

· Digital\Virtual collection upkeep and development

· Information literacy instruction

· Department collaborations

· Successful programming and hosting of campus events

· Supervision of library student workers and computing resources

· Developing and delivering college course work for academic credit

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

· A Masters of Library Science or Masters of Education with significant library science components from an accredited institution

· Experience developing and utilizing digital and virtual resources

· Demonstrated understanding of, and receptiveness to, the uses of emerging technologies and instructional design principles. Experience with online learning resources and exceptional computer skills and capabilities.

· Excellent interpersonal skills encompassing the ability to work collegially as a member of a team; strong analytical and organizational skills; and excellent written and oral communication skills.

· Demonstrated ability to design and deliver information literacy and critical thinking development programs

· Collection curation and management experience

Preferred:

· Knowledge of trends and issues in scholarly communications

· Demonstrated experience with learning commons implementation

· Experience with pedagogical design and shared learning models

· Demonstrated experience with assessment tools and strategies

· Knowledge of collection development tools and methods

· Additional graduate credit or Masters in related field of teaching assignment

· Higher education teaching experience

Additional Information

· Salary is commensurate with experience

· This position will have responsibilities on both campuses and may include off-campus locations.

· This position may require travel and flexible hours.

· A valid driver's license or reliable transportation is required.
