Are you interested in becoming more involved with undergraduate research at UT? The Undergraduate Research Students' Association (URSA) at UT is seeking
new members for its Executive Board.
URSA works to build a culture of research at UT and coordinates the annual Undergraduate Research Symposium.
(These will be available to members to review before voting.)

the National Science Foundation's Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program? We will host an information session on Monday, December 4 at 3:30 pm focused solely on these two opportunities. Seating is limited. The location will be announced once

Represent UT at NCUR 2018
We need UT undergraduates who want to represent UT at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research in April 2018. Join over 4,500 students from
the around country presenting their research and creative achievements to each other. This event includes posters, oral presentation, art exhibition, dance performances, and a large graduate school exhibition. Submit your abstract or portfolio by December

Students Receive International Honors
Rachel Hunt, Alexandra Brito, and Sierra Roark recently returned from Dublin, Ireland, where they attended the Undergraduate Awards Global Summit
and received international honors for their academic research.
“The Undergraduate Awards Global Summit has been an incredible opportunity to showcase their work on an international stage and network with peers
at universities worldwide," said Marisa Moazen, executive director for undergraduate research and community engagement.
The Office of Undergraduate Research is now soliciting entries from students who would like to represent UT in the 2018 competition; the deadline
is in May.

Summer Research Abroad
Choose from 8 countries to spend the summer conducting research (Australia, Chile, China, England, Ireland, New Zealand, South Korea, or Spain). Research
in English unless otherwise noted. A research-based internship provides you the opportunity to join an on-going research project for a short period of time, helping to clarify academic, career, and personal interests. Open to all majors and those new to research with
a minimum GPA of 3.0. Apply now, before the January deadline!

Research Abroad in Fall 2018
UT partners with EuroScholars to provide a high-caliber international research experience for our undergraduate students.
The program is especially designed for students who are interested in discovering their potential for a research career. EuroScholars offers unique opportunities to spend a semester as a student researcher at one of the top European research institutions. A
strong interest in an academic/research career and a GPA of 3.4 or higher are also required. Students do not need to have research experience, however, science students should have ample academic experience in a laboratory setting. Deadline to apply is April
1, however projects are awarded on a first come basis, so apply early if you can!

The Harvard College Undergraduate Research Association presents the 2018 National Collegiate Research Conference January 18-20, 2018 at Harvard University
in Cambridge, MA.
Interested in research, collaboration, and innovation? Want to present your research at Harvard, receive feedback, and win prizes? Interested in
meeting some of the most talented undergraduate students in the world?
Join 200 of the top undergraduate researchers from around the country and the globe for the 2018 National Collegiate Research Conference, the largest
student-run undergraduate research conference in America.
UT will offer $500 travel grants to students accepted to present. Application Deadline: Friday, December 1 at 11:59 pm EST

Showcase your research and represent the University of Tennessee at a regional, state, or national conference. We are pleased
to announce the addition of an
Undergraduate Research Travel Grants program to our program offerings.
Students presenting their work at conferences may apply for funds to partially defray the costs of registration and travel.
The amounts awarded are:
•$300 for regional conferences (TN and any contiguous state)
•$500 for national conferences
•$800 for international conferences

Look for classes with the Research (R) designation in the course catalog. These courses have undergraduate research built into the course. You can
also ask your department or advisor if there are any R-courses available for you. The R-designation will appear on your transcript allowing confirmation of participation.

Call for Undergraduate Research Highlights for Journal
Submit Undergraduate Research Highlights
for the next issue of Scholarship and Practice of Undergraduate Research. Undergraduate Research Highlights briefly
describe peer-reviewed research or scholarly work in academic journals, book and book chapters, Web-based publications, and juried performances that have occurred within the past six months. They must be in print and must have one or more undergraduate coauthors.
